I got my gleaming new one-year pass to all of NHB’s museums in the mail on Saturday. So, I can now visit the permanent exhibitions at the following museums any time, as many times as I want!
- Asian Civilisations Museum
- Memories at Old Ford Factory
- National Museum of Singapore
- Peranakan Museum
- Reflections at Bukit Chandu
- Singapore Art Museum
- Singapore Philatelic Museum
First stop, the one museum on that list that I’ve not visited: Peranakan Museum!
I still find it amazing that we only had one major museum not too long ago.

/ Monday, 1 September 2008Do they still have the free entry thing on Friday evenings? I remember always popping down to Spore Art Museum on Fridays to catch the exhibitions.

/ Monday, 1 September 2008Yes, that still applies to SAM. It’s free entry during lunchtime (noon to 2pm) on weekdays too.

/ Monday, 1 September 2008I think it was a nice gesture on the part of our friends at NHB. Now indeed we can say, ‘membership has its privileges’. Thank you NHB.
I think I will try out the Ford Motors museum which is only a stone’s throw from my house and where I spent a few weeks doing my U practical training..

/ Tuesday, 2 September 2008@ Wynn Of course! Heheh… after the F1 month (and all the upheaval in my house).
@ Chun See Indeed, it is. =) Oh, you did your practical training there. Remember to check out the screenings at the auditorium. And the war-time garden behind the building, which a lot of people miss. Even the side of the driveway has information boards.

/ Wednesday, 10 September 2008Yeah! Cheers to getting the pass. I have been having one such pass for a number of years, and am enjoying the unlimited entries it brings. Sometimes I would just visit a couple of museums all in a single day!

/ Wednesday, 10 September 2008Wah, py! I knew you were a museum junkie… when you say “a couple” you mean two right? Or more than two in a day? NHB should really give you some sort of award for being so fanatical about their museums! =)

/ Wednesday, 10 September 2008oh crap i have the form but haven’t send it in yet! hehe but now that NUS give free membership it feels so redundant *boohoo*

/ Wednesday, 10 September 2008Errr. there was a day when I went to Asian Civilisation Museum (both the Empress Place and the one at Armenian St), the Singapore Art Museum, the then Singapore History Museum. OK, I just checked out at least one exhibition from each museum. It wasn’t that difficult to do considering that these museums are located quite nearby each other.

/ Thursday, 11 September 2008@ monkey NUS has free membership? Is that the one for teachers? Only two museums, right?
@ py Four in a day… yah, they are all within walking distance. I’m a more occasional museum goer, so when I go, it tends to be a thorough half-day or full-day visit. Unless it’s a smaller museum (or as NAS puts it, interpretative centre) like Reflections at Bukit Chandu.
Teutoburg
/ Friday, 12 September 2008That’s wonderful! Ann, you may remember her from the Meet Ups, recently toured all the museums and took many photos of her visits.
