Not since 1965

If Melbourne is to Australia,

Melbourne, Australia

and London is to UK,

London, UK

is Singapore to Malaysia?

Singapore, Malaysia?

Sorry, Metblogs, not since 1965. Or do the people at Metblogs know something that we don’t? Hmmm…

Thankfully, it’s not Singapore — China!

UPDATE 18 April Micamonkey highlighted this to the powers-that-be at Metblog. It’s rectified!

Is that really so? Singapore is not a colony at the arse-end of the Malayan Federation, which is in turn a colonial possession of Her Majesty’s Government? This is a revelation!

When I arrived eight years ago, everything on the native television stations was in the Malay language. Was it RTM One or RTM Two? Maybe even TV3? I don’t remember. Anyhow, I gave up trying to comprehend the native speak and stopped watching free-to-air television altogether.

But I must say that the financial aid Her Majesty’s Government has poured into this colony, has made Singapore a well-run outpost. You even have an elected head of state as Governer General! Bloody marvelous!

Then just the other day, some people were talking about how Singapore is becoming a vassel state of China? Oh that doesn’t sound very promising to me. But what do I know? I’m just an ignorant Australian.

    Best of luck!
