Very nice photos you have here, I'm from class 6A(1985) I too remember Joyce Tan but she never taught us. I was quite a prankster in those days always getting public caning or sent to Principle's office. Wonder how is Tan Hai San or Mr Goh or brother lawrence(I'm guessing the right name). Other teachers I remember are Mrs Tan(dimple on the chin) Mrs Anthony(Indian lady maths teacher), Mr Kung english teacher(he's the best and funniest always sporting elvis pressly kind of hairstyle).

If you like looking at photos, there is a shop called the heritage along Jalan Sultan next to Muslim Food stall.

93 Jalan Sultan #01-01 (no vested interest, just sharing info here)

They have tons of very old photos each going for $2-3 and other 60-80's parapenalia/antiques. And I'm sure the owner has more stashed away somewhere. I managed to snap up a bunch of very old photos of places around bras basah/coleman street(places of my youth) unfortunately for photos of waterloo street there are none.

Check it out,

nice blog btw.

Hi Jonathan. I remember a Brother Lawrence. However, he did not teach my class. I have no idea where he is currently.

Indeed, this is Edwin in the flesh.

Childhood memories are quite like chocolate. Bitter-sweet. Good that I like dark chocolate better.

Too bad I din have those pics of us brushing our teeth along the drain in the courtyard, or drinking those cute milk packets.

Those days were fun...

Yes, was in SMS and scraped thru PSLE at 1976 to get into SJI for the next 4 years. The motto "Ora Et Labora" still rings in my ears. Great to link up with fellow Josephians.

@ John Larkin Very lucky, indeed! Thanks for sharing that anecdote. Heheh... I don't think I was that naughty in school.

@ RockyRacoon Ah, small world once again. You know Edwin! Yup, that's definitely him.

@ Ivan Chew & Kevin Ok, go dig for old photos! I'm expecting a "primary school days" post soon from both of you. Just photos is fine, no need to ramble. ;)
