This is a live report from the National Museum of Singapore! I’m sitting on the National Museum grounds with my MacBook open and free Wi-Fi.
I happened to be at The Cathay, and Siva SMSed about the festivities at the National Museum. The museum’s 120th Anniversary celebrations kick off tonight!
Right now, a local band is jamming to an appreciative audience. Behind me, there are lots of pasar malam stores, selling local food and knick knacks from the old days. A few people are playing games from my youth, like chapteh. (I never was any good at that.) I bumped into Amy and she recommended the satay.
It was gooooood! Thanks, Amy!
I didn’t bring my camera to work today, so I snapped a few shots with my mobile phone. Thought I wouldn’t be able to transfer them ’til Monday (the cable’s at work), then remembered another thing I don’t use often: Bluetooth. And with free Wi-Fi from the museum, you’ve got this post. =)
So, make your way down to the National Museum. The pasar malam is on tomorrow too. The stalls will also be open in the day on Saturday and Sunday. What are you waiting for? Bring the kids along before the school semester resumes.

/ Friday, 7 September 2007Yeah, the satay rocks!
Adventurous ones will also locate the alcohol vendor at the furthest corner of the pasar malam, somewhere near the stage. Heh.
“Empire of Nature” exhibition (supported by Raffles Museum!!!) closes at 6pm. So I suggest visitors check that out first and then hit the makan outside.

/ Friday, 7 September 2007Yup, it really does. Jumain Satay. Heh, I have a colleague named Jum’main, and he once mentioned that there was a good satay caterer with his name. Must be this one!
Ahhh, ok. You know, the booklet with activities is so thick, it’s hard to know where to start. Maybe I’ll pop by tomorrow afternoon before heading to the National Library for a talk by Mok Ly Yng about the History of Mapping in Singapore.
So many things on this weekend!
