There are social networks.
And there are *cough* elite social networks.
Uuni positions itself as a social network for those who are studying in the best universities in the world.
NUS and NTU students, rejoice! Your universities are among the 120* or so that are listed on the registration page. You’ll need a valid University email to join.
Sounds like Facebook when it started. Just more exclusive.
* I have no clue how the people at Uuni determined which Universities qualify.

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007‘From the world’s top universities’ is very elitist. Why say that? It really doesn’t sit very well with me at all.

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007@ jitsion Yup, I’m on Facebook. And Friendster. And… You know what? They’re all just fads. (And you mean pun.)
@ afootnote ‘Cos that’s their pitch. You can’t join unless you have a valid email from an institution on their list!
Sounds like something out of Singapore. But Uuni is an English product.

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007Okay, my comment about Facebook was a bit dismissive. My point is this: You have to be on all these things if you want to connect with friends online, ‘cos everyone uses the service they like. So, even if Facebook is the flavour of the day and Friendster is old school (I’ve never liked that term… because I’m retro), I use both. Social networking is about the people in those networks, right?

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007This is just wrong. Maybe someone should now create a social networking site called “The Rest of Us”.

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007haha… acroamatic i think you do have a point in that. Depends on what crowd you are looking at. I guess i never like friendster since i dun have much friends on it. now i have a Ton of inertia to move from facebook though.

/ Wednesday, 15 August 2007@ Benjamin Koe Yah, we’ll call it inuu!
@ jitsion No real need to move. Just collect social network site memberships! That’s the next killer online app though… a meta social networking site that just works.

/ Wednesday, 22 August 2007Yup, I found out about uuni.com through your message in flickr about… joining a competition.
And here I was thinking the real hook is the ability to “share ideas and lecture notes”!
