Backache Part Deux

spine

It’s back. Almost literally.

An injury I sustained three years ago is bothering me once again. I had severe back pain after a basketball game in November 2003. This time, pain was not preceded by physical strain. I didn’t engage in anything strenuous over the weekend.

But on Monday morning… OUCH!

I had a two-day MC. Today’s Friday, and I’m still in pain. *sigh*

Anyway, the “oh, you poor thing” looks have also been accompanied by an almost incidental “you should lose weight”.

Yes, I know.

After my back gets sorted.

  2. Yup, that game. Not your fault, lah. I was over-exuberant that day. Playing squash has very different effects on the body compared to playing basketball. And I hadn’t played basketball for a very long time before that. Actually, it’s kept me off b-ball ever since.

I heard that in basketball, there is a foul called 带球跑 or carry the ball and run. So backache is the penalty for committing a foul.

But seriously, I read that it’s natural for people with heavy belly (fat men – not you hor, or pregnant ladies)to have backache becos the additional weight exerts a moment about the spine; which the person will try to counter by bending this back; thus leading to backache. If the person already has a back problem, then the pot belly makes it worse.

  5. @ Chun See: Travelling – I don’t know whether that’s the official term for it. Heh, it’s okay Chun See, my belly is quite big. Can’t run away from that fact.

@ Qinz: Thanks. Sinseh… haven’t thought about that actually.
